(Can't name my friend but my friend is BA so using that as identifier)
BA: Lunch @ 12:30??
Tarun: Am or pm ???
Oh … at am it wont be lunch …
Ok change of ques …
What will u call a meal at 12:30 am??
BA: That would be 00.30 not 12.30!....
Tarun: Oh railway time …
But the question was something else ….
BA: I don’t think a meal at that time has any name associated with it….as ppl generally are sleeping at that time.
Tarun: So what there must be some people sleeping now …
That doesn’t mean, we will not eat…
Eating has nothing to do with other people sleeping …
Remember Eat cricket … sleep cricket … drink Coca Cola!
But what if I don’t have coke at 00:30???
BA: When these terms came into existence…long long ago…….
certain fixed timings of eating were followed…………
ppl never ate at any time……yes things have changed now…..but these terms have not…..
That’s why they are called good ol days ….
People changed with time … but terms didn’t change with time ….
Is that why we still see *Terms and Conditions apply everywhere????
Terms have not changed I got it .. can you throw some light on Conditions.
BA: Terms in case of ‘terms & conditions’ is different
Conditions
Language unit
- In terminology (the study of language terms), a "term" is a word, word pair, or word group, that is used in specific contexts for a specific meaning.
- Specialised terms are characterised as technical terms, or sometimes terms of art.
- Figures of speech and shorthands are called terms of language.
- A term (mathematics) is a basic component of a mathematical expression. In the context of a polynomial it is a number and variables all multiplied together. Similarly, like terms are terms that have the same variables to the same exponents.
- in mathematical logic, a term is a particular combination of symbols from a formal language, that in turn are the units that make up the formulas of that language.
- In type theory, "term" is used for the linguistic constructs.
- In traditional logic, term came to mean a referring expression, but only through the Latin terminus - margin, (so that terms were 'terminal for analysis').
- Specialised terms are characterised as technical terms, or sometimes terms of art.
Now I can understand your condition ….
Condition of people have improved over time … we were apes long time back …
but we are humans now !!!
